Ribchester Amateur Theatrical Society (RATS)

Monday 17th, Thursday 20th, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd July, various times.

Directed and produced by Viki Mason and Charlotte Green and written by Bridget Rabitts. This family-friendly promenade play promises mystery and intrigue in Ribchester's shadiest nooks. Sensible footwear and coats/umbrellas (depending on the ever reliable Lancashire weather) are highly recommended. The RATS promenade is a much loved Summer tradition, offering a different way of looking at our village with each annual production. Meet outside the White Bull.

St Wilfrid's After School Drama Club

Tuesday 18th July, 4:00pm

All are welcome to attend the performance of Rockin' All Over The World, a free performance at St Wilfrid’s Primary School. In the summer term, Ribcaged Productions will run an After School Drama Club at St Wilfrid’s Primary School. All pupils attending this fun class will become the stars of this mini performance. Families wishin to enrol in this after school club should collect a form from school.

Robbie Waugh

Monday 17th July, 10:00pm

Robbie Waugh is a professional singer with strong ties to the Ribble Valley. He moved to live in Clitheroe after completing his degree in Music Theatre at the University of Central Lancashire. Whilst there he forged a strong working relationship with Ribcaged Productions, following his first professional performance job in Stop the Train the musical in The Grand, Clitheroe in 2014. He went on to appear in several of Ribcaged’s productions, and now has just returned home from 7 months of performing in the United States and the Caribbean as a lead vocalist for Celebrity Cruise Productions.

Ribcaged Productions is the Ribble Valley’s national award winning community theatre company. Formed in 2005 we have performed across Lancashire, the North West and the Edinburgh Fringe. A Woman to the Waves’ is a new play written and directed by Lauren Hall, who has recently graduated from York St John University with a Master in Theatre and Performance. Lauren has also worked in a range of different social contexts, such as in prisons, with learning disabled actors and within dementia homes, facilitating workshops and also writing papers on the subjects.


Straight No Chaser

Tuesday 18th July, 9:00pm

Straight No Chaser are a superb Lancashire based duo.. Dean Masser is a jazz saxophonist, composer and educator. After graduating from Leeds College of Music he became a member of the Jack Parnell Quartet, which recorded a live album during a week-long stint at Ronnie Scott's. Since then, Dean has played alongside many of the leading names in British jazz at numerous venues and festivals. He has many television and radio appearances to his credit.

Rick Holmes is a talented graduate from Leeds College of Music.  In 2008/2009 he held the guitar chair in the LCM Big Band, which toured the North of England and performed in the BBC venue with special guest Steve Waterman.

The Manchester Ceilidh Trio

The Manchester Ceilidh Trio are one of the UK's finest professional ceilidh bands. Based in the North of England, the band performs all over the UK and is highly in demand with a busy schedule. The Manchester Ceilidh Trio trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, one of the world's leading conservatoires. As one of only a handful of professional Scottish Ceilidh bands, the members are young and extremely talented musicians, comprising of fiddle, piano, and drums and delivers fantastically energetic ceilidh sets ensuring your night will be entertaining from the first note to the last.

Richard Hoyle (Adventures in Middle Earth)

Thursday 20th July, 6:00pm

Richard Hoyle is Ribcaged’s Creative Director for Schools and Outreach. He is an experienced actor having graduated from Salford University with a degree in Performing Arts. He has performed in many of Ribcaged’s productions including leading roles in Macbeth, An Inspector Calls and Romeo and Juliet as well as Ribcaged’s annual pantomime at The Grand Clitheroe, including as Ben Trumpkin in ‘Amy’s Amazing Around the World Adventure’!

Roth Duo

Thursday 20th July, 7:30pm

Sam Rodwell completed his undergraduate course at The Royal Northern College of Music with a first class honours degree. He is now continuing his studies by doing a Masters in performance also at the RNCM. During his first year at college Sam performed on guitar, banjo and ukulele in Shostakovich's rarely performed Paradise Moscow. He later went on to attain a place as a finalist in the highly prestigious ‘Gold Medal’ competition. Emma Smith recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music where she gained a Master of Music (Solo Performance) and a PgDip (Solo Performance). Emma is a dedicated and experienced chamber musician and has twice won the Rita Quinney Medal for ensembles in the Edinburgh Festival of Music and Speech.

Taylor and the Mason (plus Alex Hulme)

Taylor and the Mason have been rocking around Manchester for about 3 years. An acoustic duo consisting of two ladies who have a passion for good harmonies, good times and good guitar music perform with their band. Their debut album is a dynamic production, recorded and mixed by The Travelling Band's Adam and Jo at Pinhole Studio. The close-nit harmonies, chiming guitars and delicate melodies compliment their heartfelt songs. Alex Hulme is a Garstang folk-pop singer, writer and loop maker. Plaudits from Paul McCartney and Billy Ocean aside, his work has received critical acclaim from the likes of Ultimate Guitar and the BBC.

James Hutton

Friday 21st July July, Time TBC

James began his vocal studies in North Wales and entered The Royal College of Music in 1981. At this time he performed for The Orange Festival Chrous in a production of La Gioconda which starred the legendary diva Monsarat Caballe. He has also performed in the Bath Festival in Nexus Opera’s production of Britten’s Curlew River and in the Promenade Concerts at The Royal Albert Hall. In the 1990s he toured with The D’Oyly Carte Opera Company in performances of Iolanthe and The Gondoliers. On moving back to his native Yorkshire he did concert work for several choral societies. James is accompanied by pianist Karen Ballantine.

The Groove Line are a professional 5 piece Pop Funk band with a fantastic sound, style & repertoire. The combined and varied skill of the individual musicians provides huge capability for the band’s sound and repertoire with a 5 piece band including female vocals, tenor saxophone, guitar, bass & drums. Touring extensively worldwide from USA and Canada to Myanmar, Germany, France, Ibiza and the UK. This hugely talented group have performed with artists Alistair Griffin, Annie Lennox, Enya and Kimberly Walsh.

Josienne Clark and Ben Walker

Saturday 22nd July, 7:30pm

Four time BBC Radio2 Folk Award nominees Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker infuse ageless stories of love and loss with their exquisite command of many instruments. They met in 2009 have resolutely forged their own path through traditional music. Their album 'Nothing Can Bring Back the Hour' was one of the most anticipated releases of 2014 and was nominated in the Best Album category at that year’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards along with yet another nomination for Best Duo.

Zelkova Quartet

Sunday 23rd July, 7:00pm

Winners of the 2017 St Martin's Chamber Music Competition, the Manchester-based Zelkova Quartet was formed at the Royal Northern College of Music under the guidance of Petr Prause, cellist of the Talich Quartet. Recent performances include recitals at St Martin in the Fields, St John's Smith Square, Moscow's Rachmaninov Hall and the Bridgewater Hall for the Manchester Midday Concert Society. The quartet have featured numerous times on BBC Radio 3 including a Royal Philharmonic Society 'Encore' performance at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music  Festival, a performance as part of the BBC Proms Plus Portrait series, and a live broadcast on the 'In Tune' programme. In 2015 the quartet was invited to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe as part of the Royal Overseas League’s programme of events at the festival. The quartet were selected for the ChamberStudio Study Programme 2016/2017 which enabled them to work with the highly esteemed chamber musician Simon Rowland-Jones. The quartet are delighted to have been selected to attend the prestigious International Musician's Seminar at Prussia Cove 2017.
